For those that have thrifting experience, you know how rare it is to find two of a single item when it comes to clothing. What's there is there, period. So, when I happen upon 2 of the exact same dress at two different thrift stores, I call it fate!
I was attracted to the fabric from the beginning. It's bright and colorful in it's pinks and purples but it was that touch of gold with the color combination that set it apart from the rest. The vibe was royalty, but fun. The dress itself was sleeveless and falls mid thigh so one dress was not quite enough to create my vision and with that my vision fell to the side for a time.
Spotting the exact same dress sometime later revived my vision of creating this colorful court jester costume. Fabric was still somewhat limited, so I took care to create the larger pieces first ensuring that if I ran out it would be for trims or accents rather than the main portion itself. There were not much more than the zippers left but I managed to create a complete head to toe look bringing my vision of fun royalty to life.
